The wrong book.

A crooked, bizarre, totally strange book…and two ants who need a helping hand.

This book is really weird.

Where are the pictures? And the words?

And it’s totally dark!

Two unwary ants, looking for crumbs – because we know kids’ books are often full of them – hide between the pages and…

UH-OH! They need a helping hand!

Can you help them, please?

A wrong book for… playing together!

The little reader is asked to switch on the light; use a finger to stop the poor ants from rolling down; shake the book to make a maze of words, and then immediately help the new friends to escape; and finally to crumble a slice of bread… the ants will be very happy, but will they learn the name of the one who helped them?

A book to teach children to be patient, or at least laugh about it.

How do you teach children to be patient? One of the hardest tasks parents must face…

When you get in the car, how often have you heard: “Are we there yet?” “Are we there?” “Now are we there?”

And in the ten minutes it takes pasta to cook, how many times do your children ask: “Mom, is it ready?”, “I’m hungry”, “Now is it ready?”

My daughters are world champions of impatience… that’s where this book came from. I don’t guarantee it will really teach your children to be patient, but at least it will make them laugh about it.

Wait! I must tell you something else: this book, like the similar ones published, invites young readers to do things: blow, rub their hands, wash them, yell, sing…

Teaching children patience becomes a game.

It all begins with a pan on the stove: the spaghetti isn’t done yet. The book asks the child: “Can you be patient? How long can you wait before turning the page?” And on the next page the exercises begin: Wait! It’s too hot. Wait. It needs cheese! Wait! Wash your hands… And so on.

The little mouse eats the spaghetti, the apple chosen from the fruit basket is Snow White’s, and she’s angry. The mouse comes back to steal a second apple, the one we’ve peeled – finally – as a snack. They lose patience, but…

Wait! Today is the mouse’s birthday and he’s brought a cake! Yay! Wait! We have to sing Happy Birthday and… Wait! Sorry, I forgot to light the candle, please sing it again…

Great. Finally you deserve a piece of cake, the biggest one, because you’ve shown you have a bit of patience.

A book for ages 3 and up, to be read with parents, to teach children to be patient, to play page by page!

A boat trip to improve child’s cutting skills in a fun way.

A basic Montessori inspired cut-out book to help children develop manual skills and eye-to-hand coordination.

Do it at home, at a restaurant, wherever your child wants, and can find space for a challenging game.

The sun is shining and there’s no wind. You can take a relaxing boat ride, but be careful: a storm is brewing.

The game gradually becomes harder as the wind becomes stronger and the waves become higher. Until the child is asked to cut out more complicated shapes: first the boat and the person sailing it, then a fish and a starfish.
Square shaped, bound on the upper part for ease of cutting.

A brightly coloured cut-out book to develop children’s manual skills.

A book to be completed and given as a gift – for kids with two Moms

An album that gives free rein to children’s imagination, to scribble in the coloured frames.

Children are asked to describe their moms – and themselves – using given adjectives (smart, good-looking, strong, friendly…) or inserting new ones; to draw themselves, their moms and their whole families; to indicate their favourite activities and games with moms; to create a real artwork, colour the outline of a heart and make a drawing recalling an adventure they’ve had together; finally, to colour a large “I love you” and leave their handprint – to be completed with their moms’.

It doesn’t contain black-and-white drawings to be coloured in. Here it’s not important to stay within the lines, but to make a unique gift!
Little artists are free to express themselves in the best way. Moms are sure to love it!

The post You and I, Mom. The perfect moms gift! appeared first on Olimpia Ruiz di Altamirano.

A book to celebrate dads and their affection.

For children who miss their dads during the day… and for all dads who love holding their children’s hands!

“Each day after breakfast my dad leaves the house. He always comes back, but only after dark. I miss him. I want to make a nice drawing for him.”

The task of the ‘perfect drawing for dad’ is more difficult than you think because the little main character, who speaks in the first person and is never seen, can’t decide: what drawing would please a dad like hers?

“A ball. Maybe three. More is better. No… lots and lots! Too many. Maybe Dad won’t like them.”

Her doubts multiply.

“How does Dad always know the way home? If he goes too far, mightn’t he forget? And where is Dad all day?”

Her mom reassures her: Dad is at his office, and that’s where he’ll hang the drawing she’s making for him. He loves her, and what he likes the most is being with her.

Finally the little girl knows just what drawing for dad to make.

These illustrations are really special.

Illustrations based on original drawings by Isabella, age 3.

How do you teach children to love reading? Try this: Tear out this book!

To learn that books should never be torn… unless they ask to be!

How do you teach children a love of books, enthusiasm for a new story?

Definitely by reading together and setting a good example ourselves. And then?

I think the rest is play and empathy. Show them wonderful things so they’ll be curious. Get them involved so they’ll want to open a new book, to experiment!

How do you teach children to respect the pages of a book?

Normally, as we know, as we have been taught and as we explain to our children, books should not be torn. Never, ever. Absolutely. And that’s right. Because all books have a story to tell, and without pages they couldn’t tell it. All books except this one.

How? What!? Tear out the pages? That’s crazy!

Watch kids’ faces light up. Everybody ready to play?

This is the only book in the world created for children to destroy, or rather: to be manipulated and turned into confetti. It won’t follow your child around the world, it won’t languish on a shelf. It will be read only once and, happily, maybe by playing together, it will be torn into a thousand little coloured pieces.

And, just like other books, this one will also stop working once it’s torn. What will be left to the children, and those lucky enough to play with them, will be the experience they share and the pleasure of so much colourful confetti.

The dotted lines show where to tear the pages, stimulating eye-to-hand coordination, especially in older children.

The book can also be used to teach children how to use scissors.

Fold and glue the pages to send the flies away. But watch out: there are lots of them, it seems like there’s a…

Montessori materials are developmental because they help children grow, encouraging them to teach themselves. They don’t teach in an explicit way, but decode something of the world that surrounds children, preparing them to learn… There are many sites that sell Montessori materials, while others explain how to make them at home.

My books stimulate children’s manual skills in a fun way and are designed for kids who like to make a mess!

The book lets children play with glue and improve their eye-to-hand coordination. At home, at a restaurant, wherever your child wants, and can find space for a challenging game.

The pages are very colourful, to attract children’s attention.

The dotted lines show where the page can be folded and glued.

Like the other books in this series, this one doesn’t collect dust: It won’t stay on the shelf for long. It will be read just once, and cheerfully glued, maybe with others. Definitely worthwhile!

Turn the pages into the chase after a sassy fly.

A glue-book to encourage children’s manual dexterity and coordination. A funny activity book for playing and laughing together.

Looking for a fun kids’ book?

Try this, and watch kids set to work!

All books are to be read, but some require young readers to make an extra effort… Here they have to rise to the occasion and get ready to shake!

There are pears to shake loose and gather up, leaves to blow away, dirt to wipe off and a little caterpillar to help. When the butterfly comes out of his cocoon, will he be able to fly?

A fun book for kids who want to be the star of the show!

An adventure to share that’s never boring.

For ages 3 and older.
